ANALYSES AND CHECKED POINTS (EXAMPLES)

The dielectric fluid analysis measures several indicators which, according to their severities, reveal various types of anomalies (electric and thermal defects, premature ageing, loss of insulating capacity, etc.).

• Water content : measurement of the moisture content of the dielectric fluid to prevent related risks (striking or paths/electrical perforation of the insulators).
• Colour
• Appearance : determines the clarity and absence of abnormal compounds.
• Dielectric strength (or breakdown voltage) : determines the breakdown threshold of the dielectric submitted to an electrical field to prevent the associated risks (striking).
• Acid number : measures the degree of acidity of the dielectric to anticipate its degradation level (risk of corrosion of metallic parts).
• Measurement of dissolved gases : quantifies all the gases created by the transformer defects and thus allows their causes to be determined.
• Furan derivatives : to estimate the degradation and the residual life of the cellulose insulation of the device.
